Fishing can be done at all times of the day. Certain times of the day are better for certain kinds of fishing though. Some types of fish prefer the conditions at night, making night fishing the perfect time to bait a line. Here are some tips to make your next night fishing venture a fruitful one:
Preparedness
The first tip is to make sure that you are well prepared for night fishing. This means that you need to make sure that you don't have a lot of tackle boxes and fishing rods rolling all over the deck of the boat. This is because it can result in you having a broken tackle box or it might make you go overboard. The deck of the boat will need to be cleaned so that it can help to prevent any mishaps that could happen on the boat.
Slow Pace
The second tip is to go slow when you are in clear water. This is because the bass are going to burrow at the bottom of the lake at night. It might be a good idea to use a plastic worm when you are fishing. This is the best way to creep along the main points of the lake and the ledges of the banks inside of the coves and the creek arms. You can slowly raise the worm up by lifting the tip of the rod in the 12 o'clock position and then dropping the rod down.
Murky Waters
The third tip is to go inside murky water. At nighttime, there is a good chance that the water is going to be a little bit off colored. Therefore, you are going to need to concentrate on the shallow cover and pitch it with a black jig or a plastic chunk or craw that is made of blue or black plastic. You can present the jig with about three or four quick pumps with the tip of the rod. This will allow the reel to slack line and start a number of quick pumps.
Spinnerbaits
The fourth tip is to toss the spinnerbaits into the wind. It is ideal that when you are trying to catch an aggressive bass to use a black spinnerbait that is about a half ounce in weight. You can retrieve the blade of the bait at a steady pace along the rocky banks of the lake. This will be through the standing timer or over the brush piles that have sunk. Nights of spinnerbait fishing can be just as fun as the bass when they come chomping on your bait when you are burning through the water.
Make Noise
The fifth tip is to make some noise on a calm night. This means that you are going to need to throw a noisy chugger or prop bait on the nights when it seems to be more calm. This will wake up the bass so that they are close to the surface. When you are trying to fish at night, prime targets are going to be close to the docks for the boats that have lights on them. This is because the docks are probably going to have sunken brush piles underneath them for the fish.
